It was a drippily, drizzily, stay-at-home kind of day. Chucky just sat and stared out the window. As he stared, a thought came to mind…
CHUCKY: I could make a list of all the stuff I like to do!
So Chucky took his crayons and started to write…
His Mom came in to check on Chucky…
MOM: Chucky, what are you doing?
CHUCKY: Mom, I’m making a list of all the things I would like to do
MOM: Good idea, Chucky! I too shall make a list of what I like to do.
WASH AND DRY DISHES
PUT THE DISHES AWAY
4 Then Chucky and Mom compared lists…
CHUCKY: Wow! Your list does not look anything like my list.
MOM: You’re right, Chucky, they are different. What are we going to do about that, Chucky?
CHUCKY: We might need to take turns.
MOM: Or perhaps while I’m vacuuming, you could color.
Then Mommy added a word to both of the lists. It started with an ‘E’ and sounded really weird to Chucky…
CHUCKY: ET-CET-ER-A? Ha, Ha, Chucky laughed. It sounds like Easter eggs. Mom, why did you write that word on both our lists?
MOM: Well, Chucky, there are some things on your list that you could do all by yourself, things on Mom’s list she has to do by herself, but then there are other things we both need to do and its better to do them together….just like coloring Easter eggs. Of course there are things we never even thought to put on the list, but we will decide to do them as we go. They are extra things, so we call them…MIS-CEL-AN-E-OUS.
CHUCKY: Ha, ha, Chucky laughed. That sounds so much like mistletoe!
MOM: Well, yes, Chucky, those extra things can be quite rewarding…much like a kiss under the mistletoe. Such extra things could include eating out, shopping, or tucking you in for a nap. CHUCKY: Oh, I would like a nap so I can get tucked in, but we will do that later!
MOM: Story of my life!
