A Good Tradeoff 45
A romance which will never return
I can not forget…it will always burn
To find another of which to adore
Could not replace you – this I deplore
Crawling forth on hands and knees
Does nothing for me, you little tease
One thing remains, you loathsome pest
My Dear Lord Jesus gives me zest
To squander all my likings on you
Would only cause my blood to stew
Were you a blessing or were you a curse?
It matters not now, for I come first!
Accuse me of being a lure and a coax
So – I turn away from your cunning jokes
I’ll remember you in a long-form prayer
Hopeful that you could receive God’s care.
You think you won’t need it, but I say you might
To give love is not the end of your plight
Separate from your fickle powers
I gather strength from smelling the flowers
